This kumkum box is shaped like a tortoise resting with its head forward, and the shell does the work of a lid. The top lifts away from the base when you need the kumkum inside.

Stones are set across the shell in a pattern of rounded panels, and the colour listed on the page is Ruby Green. The legs are short and spread out wide, which gives the box a steady footing on a flat surface. A narrow border runs around the lower rim of the shell. The finish is Rajwadi, and the surface has the softly aged look that antique pieces carry. Seen from above, the panels form a tidy honeycomb that draws the eye to the middle.
