Small, heavy and full of detail, this antique sindoor box is built like a covered cart, with a bull standing at its side as a separate figure.
The cart has a domed roof with a lattice of openwork, and stones are set along the ridge in rows. One large wheel is visible on the side, with spokes carved around a centre stone. The bull is set with stones too, which ties it to the cart. Ruby Green is the colour offered, and the finish is Rajwadi. Because the cart opens, the box holds sindoor in its body while the bull stays beside it as decoration, so the two can be shown together or used one at a time, whichever suits the table.
