A plant grows from the lid of this antique sindoor box: a slim stem carries leaf shapes on both sides and ends in a ruby bud, with two teardrop stones at the sides and a green one in the middle. The lid is a shallow disc ringed with stones, and the body below is a rounded vase on a round plate. Its finish is Rajwadi, and the listing marks it for pooja.
Ruby and green are the stone colours in stock, and the plant carries four of them, while smaller stones sit on the lid and on two little stems that reach out from the body like branches. The curved sides of the body are engraved with a fine texture. A narrow loop clasp keeps the lid closed, and the base plate is rimmed with a row of tiny studs.
Slight at 38 gm, it fits into a small pooja tray with room to spare. Built from metal alloy with artificial stones, it opens to a modest well that holds sindoor or kumkum. A tidy shape for a shelf, it sits beside other pieces in sindoor boxes.
