About This Antique Sindoor Box

Antique Sindoor Box is a sindoor box with a metal alloy base and artificial stones, weighing 67 gm and available in Ruby. Made in India and shipped across India in 2–4 business days.

How does a sindoor box end up looking like a temple tower? This antique one does it with a stepped, pointed lid, ridged like the roof of a gopuram, set on a tall drum of relief carving. Two shell-shaped ornaments hang on its sides, and a long loop clasp runs down the front. The style tags are Temple and Antique.

Ruby is the stone colour in stock, and small ruby stones are set in the carving at the rim and in the lower band. The relief on the drum shows lotus shapes and birds in panels, packed close together, and the lid has its own band of leaf-like carving just under the point. All of it is carved in layers, so the surface catches light at different heights.

At 67 gm it stands upright and does not sway. Cast in metal alloy with artificial stones, it is narrow, so it fits where a wider box would not, such as the end of a shelf. Lift the lid by the point and the well takes sindoor. More designs are in sindoor boxes.
