What does an antique maang tikka need to look complete? On this one it is a pendant shaped like a teardrop, with a pointed top and a rounded base, a raised border of small leaf shapes and a drop below, joined by side chains of tiny flowers to the hooks at both ends and a longer chain to the middle.

Ruby green and white are the colours listed, and the photographs show both: one pendant has ruby and green in the middle, the other is pale throughout. The teardrop outline is clean, so either one suits a silk saree in a traditional shade or a lehenga with a woven border, and a centre parting lets the pendant hang straight. The border of leaf shapes gives the outline a raised edge, and the drop below adds a little movement. The side chains are light and sit along the hairline without pulling.
