A kamar patta is usually judged by its front, and this party wear one has a very even one: a single row of oval settings, each with a pale centre inside a rim, joined edge to edge so the line is close to unbroken, with a fringe of small ruby coloured drops hanging below them. The photograph shows it on a dress form, so you can see how it follows the curve of the waist.

Ruby is the colour in stock. The pale ovals take most of the attention and the drops add a thin, dark ruby edge below, which is what gives it a finished look. The Mehendi finish is soft and aged, and it keeps the belt from looking too bright against a silk saree. At 87 gm it is a firm, wide band that holds its place at the waist, so it suits a lehenga as well.
