Is an antique maang tikka always heavy? This one is meant to stay light on the face, with a narrow zigzag band of studded pieces on each side, a horseshoe shape set inside a round medallion at the centre, and small round drops lining the lower edge of both bands, with a fine chain leading to the hook.

Green and ruby are the colour options, shown in the single stone at the top of the medallion. The tags call the style minimal and South Indian, and the thin bands keep the look quiet: a plain kanjivaram, a half saree or a lehenga with a simple border takes it well. Pull the hair back from a middle parting and the two bands show clearly against it, with nothing else needed on the forehead.
