Heavy for a stud, at 36 gm, these antique earrings carry a lot of detail in a small frame. The top is a rounded square with a thin beaded border, and inside it four ruby-toned petals fan out around a clear stone. Beneath the square a thick fringe of small moti beads hangs in tight rows, so the stud turns into a short, full drop of about 3.2 cm by 4 cm.

Ruby moti is the colour in stock, and it describes the pair well: ruby-toned petals against rows of moti. The ruby panel is deep and the fringe is pale, so each part stands apart from the other. The fringe sways when you turn your head and gives the pair a softer feel than a plain stud. The style is traditional and antique, and it suits dressing that already has a strong colour of its own.
