Meenakari is a style of coloured work, and this long necklace set for women uses it generously: a pendant with a peacock on either side, ruby-coloured petals around a green centre, and a cluster of tiny bells hanging from its lower edge. Above it, two long straps of pale seed-pearl rows are broken by round motifs, and the whole piece falls 33 cm from the neck, so it is a long set rather than a collar. The earrings are large squares with the same coloured petals and bell drops.
Ruby and ruby green are the colours in stock, both worked into the petals and the centre. The Rajwadi finish keeps the metal warm, so the colour stays rich rather than bright. This is a piece for a plain, heavy saree or a deep lehenga, where the long straps can lie flat against the fabric. A simple hairstyle keeps the earrings clear.
