At 36 gm, this juda pin is meant to be seen from behind, fixed on a low bun. The top is an arched panel set with a small cluster of clear and ruby stones, and below it a round medallion with fine radiating lines holds a ruby centre ringed by clear stones. Three swags of chain hang from the lower edge, and a single bead drops from the middle one.

Ruby is the colour in stock. The medallion has a worn, antique texture, while the clear kundan style stones give it a bright edge, so the piece balances weight with light, and nothing on it looks flat. Scroll shapes on either side frame the medallion and keep the outline neat. A bun worn low at the nape shows the chains falling against the neck, and jhumka earrings echo the round shapes.

Everything is metal alloy apart from the stones, which are artificial, and the single bead on the drop. Slide the panel into the bun so the chains fall free, and wear it over a saree or a kurta with a high neckline, where nothing competes with the chains. Similar styles are in hair accessories.
