Each oval stone is set in a kundan frame ringed with small stones. In the ruby version every oval is a deep ruby shade, and in the multicolour version the ovals mix several shades, with beads to match. The finish is Mehendi. Earrings with an oval stone and a bead drop are shown, along with a round maang tikka in the same style.

The collar sits at the base of the neck, so a plain boat neck or an off-shoulder line shows it clearly, and a centre parting suits the tikka.
