Not a dome at all, this pair of jhumka earrings for women is a long drop built from several parts: a small round stud of ruby and green stones at the top, a pair of tiny birds beside a green panel edged with small round beads, and below that a cluster of bell-like balls that hang loose. Most of the earring is carved metal, and the bells give it its jhumki character.

Ruby, green and a mix of the two are the colours on the page. The antique style is clear in the carving, and the green panel is the largest block of colour, so it draws the eye first. In the photograph the earring hangs well below the jaw, and a hair bun keeps the whole length visible. The bells swing a little at every step.
